The 12th Fastest Runner in Indiana

Hello, all!
It's amg here, yes that's right. I'm a first time blogger here on the all famous Galbreath Post, so don't criticize too much.

Well, my beautiful and fabulous wife recently ran the Indianapolis Mini-Marathon (13.1 miles) on Saturday, May 2. Runners came from across the country and around the world to participate. It is currently the fifth largest running event in America!

And yes, she ran the whole thing! I say that because a lot of people can't do it and end up walking. She trained for at least eight months, running in all sorts of weather conditions. She probably went through about fifteen pairs of running shoes. I couldn't believe how hard she trained. In fact, many people that live in our neighborhood would sit out on their porches and cheer her on everyday as she would fly by them with her ipod blasting her customized running playlist of music.

As many of you may not know, her also fabulous mother, Karan Kaluzynski, used to be a tri-athlete. Karan even qualified for the Ironman! In case you don't know what that is, it's like the hardest race in the world! We have a picture on our refrigerator of Karan finishing a race back in the 70's and little Leslie standing by her crying tears of joy.

Now the torch has been passed from mother to daughter. That's one of the many reasons why this race was so special. I even got to witness a very emotional moment between mother and daughter after Leslie crossed the finish line. It was like a, "Mom, I did it!" moment. Priceless.

I am so proud of my wife! She is a truly dedicated runner. It makes me so happy to see her sinking that same level of dedication into running that she gives to her career. When you get a chance, congratulate her on this unbelievable accomplishment. She plans to run in many more races to come.

Leslie, you go girl!

Bleed Featured on Twilight Lexicon

Hello, all - long time no post.

I have some exciting news this morning... (drums a'rollin')...........

Aaron's new song Bleed is featured today on the Twilight Lexicon. The Lexicon is the world's largest Twilight Saga fan site.

Long story short... I've gotten to know the two lovely ladies who run the site via my best friend, Shelley, and actually redesigned their web site along with one of my art directors (he did an amazing job). Anyway, one of the lexicon ladies is friends with Stephenie and was actually the beta reader for Eclipse.

Anyway, she graciously agreed to send the song to Stephenie Meyer for consideration for the New Moon soundtrack. The song was also sent to Summit Entertainment, the movie house producing the movie.

Please visit the Lexicon today and post positive feedback for this fabulous song - it really is wonderful.

More exciting news...

We launched Aaron's new music site this week. Please check it out when you have a chance:

That's all for now, everyone. I'm off to attempt 11 miles. If there are no future posts, it's likely due to my being in the hospital recovering from exhaustion/insanity.

XOXO

New (Moon) Songs, 10Ks and Other News

Greetings, all!

We hope everyone is well and enjoying this lovely Spring-like weather (which is sure not to last if we know anything about Spring in Indiana).

Lots to report on this week...

First, Aaron completed his new song, "Bleed," this week. The song is utterly amazing, really some of his best work ever. The song was inspired by New Moon, which is the second novel in Stephenie Meyer's Twilight saga. Our goal and hope is that through a few removed connections I have to Stephenie Meyer (most notably my best friend, Shelley), the song has a chance to land on the soundtrack for the New Moon movie, which is due out just before Christmas this year. Please keep your fingers crossed.

Additionally, the song will soon be featured on the TwilightLexicon.com site, which is the largest fan site in the world - promotion on this site alone will expose tens of thousands to Aaron's music, so needless to say, we are thrilled.

You can listen to the song on Aaron's MySpace page - http://www.aarongalbreath.com will link you there.

Aaron extends a very special thank you to Jake Niemi for all of his support and hard work in producing the new song.

Speaking of web sites... Aaron's new web site should be up and running and at least partially functional this week. We'll keep you posted.

And finally, I ran in my first competitive 10K race this weekend as part of the Indy 500 Festival Mini-marathon training series. It was fabulous! I completed the race with a time of 1:07:13, putting me on a 10:52 mile pace, which is exactly where I want to be for the mini. I was psyched! I have a serious pace issue, and given that I am one of the most competitive people on earth (shocking, I know) I tend to start way too fast and try to keep up with people I have no business trying to keep up with. So, staying on pace this race was a big accomplishment for me. I also saved up enough juice to sprint across the finish line, which was mildly hilarious to both Sarah and me. Needless to say, when I set out to run my scheduled 8 miles yesterday (the day after), my 33 year old body did not so much cooperate as protest, but I digress...

All in all, I am on schedule and looking forward to the 15K in April. Well, looking forward might be overstating it a bit.

Love and hugs to all. XOXO

Running Polar Bears & Tyrone Wells at Birdy's

So, Saturday morning it was about 28 degrees with light flurries. Not very interesting, you might say. You might even say, 'who gives a rip, LG?' Well, I did. At around 8am, I headed downtown to run my very first 5K race - aptly named the St. Francis Polar Bear 5k. Accompanied by my account coordinator and running cohort, Sarah Showalter, we headed out into the cold to run. Voluntarily. Which I still don't understand, but whatever. Anyway, it was cold, but we were determined. I was also scared to death. There were all manner of crazy people there - super skinny 60 year olds wearing nothing but shorts and tank tops and other people who had signed up to walk the race and wearing parkas. It made for fascinating people watching. Anyway, before we knew it, the run was underway. My hope was to keep up with Sarah, but she was a bit quick for me. I ended up starting WAY too fast and by the first water stop, had to slow it down. But, we both kept going in the cold. In the end, out of 420 participants, Sarah finished 11th in her age group (decidedly younger than me but that's OK) and 140th overall and I finished 12th in my age group (still young and fabulous) and 167th overall. I ran the race with a time of 32:37:00 and a 10:29/mile pace, which is way faster than I have any business running but what can you do. Anyway, I'll be slowing it down for the upcoming 10k, 15k and mini, but hey, it was fun.

That evening, Aaron and I met up with good friends Carie and Seth for Tyrone Wells' show at Birdy's. The whole show was great, but I particularly enjoyed the awesome beat boxer. He rocked the house. If you don't have Tyrone's album, we highly recommend it, good stuff.

Birthday Fantasticness & Upper Room Show

I meant to post this on Wednesday (his birthday was February 11), but we were out celebrating. Aaron and I went to the Kona Grill, one of our local favorites, to celebrate the day of his birth and enjoy some most fabulous sushi. We had a lovely dinner, and although we were both exhausted, had a great evening. Happy birthday, Ronnie!

For our local friends, Aaron is playing a show tonight at the Upper Room in Broad Ripple from 9:30pm - 12:30am. The Upper Room is located above the Broad Ripple Steakhouse. It's a great place to have a drink and visit.

Aaron will be debuting his new song, Bleed, which you can also hear in its rough mix form on aarongalbreath.com (his myspace page). It's quite fabulous and we're hoping that thru some friendly connections, it might have a chance of appearing on the New Moon soundtrack. For those of you unaware or just back from Mars, New Moon is the second in the Twilight series of books by Stephenie Meyer. The New Moon movie is scheduled for release in November 2009. Keep your fingers crossed, it's a fabulous song.

Hope to see you there.

XOXO
