Crack. Boom. Bang.

Well, another Independence Day come and gone. And a fine Independence Day it was. One might think that a consistently wet cushions, dog bites and broken grills would break a spirit. NOT SO!

We forged ahead.

As much as we were hoping for a wonderfully sunny day - say like, oh, Friday, Sunday or today - it was not to be. But we were not discouraged. My fabulous husband had worked to hard on the greatest fireworks spectacle in history to let a little damp get him down.

So, family and friends arrived and the party unfolded. Special thanks to Mama and Dad K for being so supportive both with show sponsorship and morale support :-). Also, special thanks to Mother-In-Law (the lovely DeeAnn Galbreath) for making the trip to enjoy the show - great to have you here for this special occasion.

After charring some dogs (to the liking of our guests) and burgers on a $20 grill purchased at the CVS (thanks for the transport, Carie), dinner was a smashing success.

On to the explosions...

Mother Nature took pity on us around 8:30 pm and she lightened the deluge. So much so that the show went on as planned. Surrounded by a zillion neighbors longing for the joy that only gunpowder and canon fuses can inspire, AMG produced what will be considered by all the best show ever - until next year. I mean, it was amazing. Utterly amazing. And thanks to the lighters loaned to us by Jan Ferland - thanks, Jan! - there were no lulls in the action.

I tried to get some shots of the explosions, but the damp and dark made it hard - as did the delay in my camera, which I'm still cursing. However, I thought you all might enjoy a glimpse at Aaron's pre-show arsenal. Keep in mind that each of those white bags held a BUNCH of individual shells. I mean, a bunch.

Add to family and friends to the mix and it was a wonderful day.

Thanks to my wonderful pyro-inclined husband for making sure that even a slightly soggy Independence Day was a great one.

Independence Day was a huge success!!AMG looked like a "mad scientist", or even better-the conductor of the Bostom Pops, as he created the most amazing fireworks display. He gracefully moved back and forth along the water's edge lighting up the sky with the most amazing and beautiful deluge of lights and booms in conjunction with patriotic music that I have ever seen. On a day when "Murphy's Law" seemed to rule, the fireworks display was everything right. Congratulations to Aaron and Leslie for a great party...God Bless You and God Bless the United States of America"....Boom! Chicka!Boom Chicka!!.......love you, Mama K
